2021 has finally given us a PlayStation Showcase. It was just 40 minutes long and yet it was absolutely packed with surprise reveals and exciting updates. Here’s everything shown in case you missed it:
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Yes, you read that title right. The 2003 Star Wars role-playing game is getting the remake treatment. We only got a tiny peek at the new game, but we know it’s being developed by Aspyr for PC and PS5 and that it will be a timed console exclusive. Contain yourselves Star Wars fans, it might be in early development, but it’s coming…

- Project Eve
It’s been two years since Project Eve was first announced by Korean developers Shift Up but today, they revealed a much closer look at the upcoming PS5 game. It’s set in the not-too-distant future where the human race has been forced off planet Earth after losing against an invasion of creatures known as the NA:tives. The new trailer showed off bloody and fast paced combat in a crumbling, dystopian Earth.

- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
Next up was Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the latest shooter from Gearbox. Described as an “epic adventure full of whimsy, wonder, and high-powered weaponry!”, this Borderlands 2 spinoff is set to be released on March 25th 2022 and you can even pre-order the game right now.

- Forspoken
We were also gifted with a brand-new trailer for Forspoken, the new IP from Square Enix and Luminous Productions. The trailer gives us a bigger insight into the story behind the central character Frey Holland and how she came to end up in the magical realm of Athia. We also got a look at what is presumably the main antagonist of the game – Tantas, an all-powerful matriarch who stands in Frey’s path to get back home to New York City. Forspoken has been given a release date somewhere around Spring 2022.

- Alan Wake Remastered
From Remedy Entertainment, we got a look at the upcoming remaster of the psychological thriller: Alan Wake. Set to release on the 5th of October this year, the remaster will be the first-time gamers will be able to play the game on a PlayStation console.

- Grand Theft Auto V
Don’t worry you haven’t traveled back in time to 2011. Here’s a re-release of GTAV for the PlayStation 5, coming March 2022. *shrug*

- Ghostwire: Tokyo
Coming in Spring 2022 to PS5, Tango Gameworks’ mysterious ghost-hunting adventure: Ghostwire: Tokyo gets a brand-new trailer. Headless high school students and faceless ghosts roam the streets of Tokyo in this supernatural next-gen adventure.

- Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
The showcase also gave us a new story trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The game takes place 12 years after the Galactic War, a violent event of which the Universe is still recovering. The newly formed guardians seeking opportunity and adventure, inevitably cause a lot of mayhem, and end up helping a cult like organisation known as the universal Church of Truth to rise up and threaten the galaxy. Oh there’s also a cute dog called Cosmo who happens to be an extremely powerful telepath. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release October 26, 2021 on PS4 and PS5.

- Bloodhunt
Next up was an announcement trailer that Bloodhunt, the upcoming free-to-play shooter set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, will be coming to PS5. It’s a third-person battle royale game where you’ll be using supernatural abilities as well as your guns to take down other players and “restore the Masquerade”. No official release date was given for the PS5 version but the game is currently available to play on steam early access on PC.

- Deathloop
It wouldn’t be a 2021 showcase without a bit of Deathloop. Here’s one final dive into the story before it’s launch next Tuesday exclusively on PS5.

- Kid A Mnesia
A rather unlikely collaboration between Radiohead and Epic Games was revealed in todays showcase. It’s hard to gather much information from this small teaser, but what we do know is it’s coming to PS5 in November 2021. Be it a game or an experience, you can put me down as intrigued.
- Tchia
Tchia, a New Caledonian inspired tropical adventure, was announced as coming to PS4 and PS5 at release. This open world adventure game is inspired by the childhood roots of studio Awaceb’s founding developers. The world, characters and story are all entirely fictional, but the developers really wanted to draw influence from the local cultures and landscape they grew up around. No release date as of yet but Awaceb have told us to stay tuned!

- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Many people will be glad to know that Uncharted, the critically acclaimed action-adventure series from Naughty Dog, is finally coming to PC (and PS5). The remastered bundle will include Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The collection is due to be released in early 2022 for PS5 and the PC version shortly afterwards.

- Gran Turismo 7
With a brand-new trailer, GT7 finally gets a release date for March 4, 2022. This will be the eight mainline installment in the series and will be the first to be multi-console as it launches on the PS4 and PS5 simultaneously.

- Rainbow Six Extraction
Rainbow Six Extraction, a new co-op PvE shooter from Ubisoft, comes to PS4 and PS5 this January. You’ll team up with friends to save the world from a horrifying alien threat. The PS5 version promises deep immersion with its use of Haptic feedback and Adaptive Triggers, 4k resolution at 60fps and minimal loading times. It’ll feature full cross-play support as well as free post-launch content.

- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine
In a surprise reveal, Insomniac unveiled two new titles coming to PlayStation 5: Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. We only got a small glimpse at both, but it’s fair to say fans are already excited for what these future games have in store. In the Spider-Man 2 trailer we saw (and heard) a new addition to the game series’ cast of villains – Venom, voiced by Tony Todd as well as a sneak peak at the new abilities and suits our heroes, Miles and Peter, might get to use. Wolverine will be a standalone game, led by the directors behind Miles Morales. Insomniac have said that their aim with Wolverine is “to not only respect the DNA of what makes the character so popular, but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit.”

- God of War Ragnarök
Saving the very best till last, today we finally got our first look at God of War Ragnarök. It’s hard not to be excited about Santa Monica’s highly anticipated follow up to God of War (2018). Set a few years after the events of the previous game, Ragnarök will feature the continuation of that incredible story between Kratos and Atreus. As Ragnarök approaches, father and son will have to fend off previous ally Freya as well as the legendary Thor. The game will take us to Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard, all areas which were unreachable in the previous title. There’s no release date as of yet but it’s fair to say, we can expect to find out much more next year!
